New Swiss Order

Switzerland - Photographer Indrek Galetin (EBU)The Swiss Lovebugs are one of the few Eurovision contesters that play rock-n-roll. They achieved extreme popularity both at home and abroad thanks to working with rock-n-roll stars in Europe.

At a press-conference they told journalists about their recent tour of Switzerland together with the Rolling Stones. Their latest album had been produced by Richard Rainey who had worked with the legendary U2 listen. The Lovebugs have over 1,000 concerts on their 17-year record.

It was the group’s fame that paved their way to Moscow. According to Florian KOHLER (Head of Delegation) there was no national finals in their homeland – the swiss broadcaster selected for the Lovebugs to represent Switzerland at the song contest.

The Lovebugs explained it was classical rock-n-roll that had had the strongest impact on their style and inspired them most. The British group New Order had also influenced them greatly listen. Asked if they have doubts about singing rock-n-roll at a pop concert, Wagner said: “A bit of rock-n-roll will only do this contest good.”

The lead artist said that they will have a full schedule during their visit to Moscow - the Lovebugs are to perform at a show held by a popular Russian broadcaster and to give several concerts at the Eurovision parties.

The Switzerland delegation was represented by: Florian KOHLER (Head of Delegation), Stefan WAGNER (leading artist); Simon RAMSEITEN (musician); Michael BACHMANN (Assistant Head of Delegation), Meroni MARCO (Head of Press), Clarissa TAMI (Assistant Head of Press).
